2. Create tables and use appropiate datatypes in Microsfoft Access

Hardware Assignments

Your Assessment for the hardware topics are as follows:
TASK 1. PowerPoint Presentation of Hardware Components

You are to prepare a Powerpoint Presentation outlining the components of a computer and provide details of each components functions.  The parts must include at least the following:

1. Motherboard
2. CPU
3. Random Access Memory - RAM
4. Hard Disk Drive - HDD
5. Video Display Card
6. Case with Power Supply
7. Mouse
8. Keyboard
9. Video Display Unit (Monitor)

TASK 2
Build A Computer:

You are to visit an online PC parts retailer and select components to build a computer. You have a budget of $1500 for all hardware, software and a Printer.  You must specify the type of printer and justify your choice.

You can use the Centrecom PC builder, located at www.centrecom.com.au/buildpc
to pick and price your parts, and once satisfied, copy the specification and price to an Excel Spread sheet.

Another website to use is www.auspcmarket.com.au. It has prices for all computer parts and components. You may use other websites, however each part needs to have a price and identify the source with the website address. You may also use any print media advertisements as well to price your parts.  All prices quoted must have a reference to the shop or online store that advertises that price.


 You need to specify the parts and specification of all the software and hardware required for your computer. The computer must be capable of being used as a student PC to complete all your school work. Your parents may also need to use it for business applications as well.

You need to specify all the hardware and software components. You may use Excel and add up individual prices using the summing function within Excel.

Task 4 - Blogging Reflection

This task requires you to refelct on what you have learnt about blogging. You need to make a reflection, using the following points as a guide:
1. Is blogging new to you and what have you learnt about blogging
2. Do you find this tool useful and will you continue to use it?
3. What are some of the ways that you can use this tool for your personal use.
4. Any other points you want to reflect on in this topic

Blogging Task 3 - Internet Scams

For this task you need to visit scamwatch website by click on this link.

You are to identify five different scams five different categories from the website.  Pick one that is most interesting to you.  Examples of categories may be banking scams, Love/Dating Scams, Chain letters scams.

For each scam, identify how the scam works and also come up with suggestions to people to avoid falling victim to the scam.

You can respond to this post by clicking on comment and typing your answer. You should prepare your response in a Word Document and copy and paiste the content in the comment section.

Blogging Task two - Social Networking

You are to respond to the questions presented in this blog, and express your opinion where appropiate.

1. What is Social Networking. Give examples of social networking sites

2. Which social networking sites are you using and specify how many connections you you have on each of these sites.  How regular do you post items on each site.

3. List five benefits of social networking

4.List five dangers of using social networking and identify possible measures you can take to minimise the risk of harm to yourself when using social networking websites

5. Give some examples of how you can use your social networking contacts to make money or gain benefits from it.

1. Register an gmail account if you do not currently have one.  For those who have one already you need to have full access to it and know your password

2. go to blogger.com to start your blogging assignment.

3. Create a blog for yourself, choose a blog name that contains your name so it is easily identifiable

4. Post your first article.  This should be about an issue about your school life that you feel strongly about.  Examples of topics are uniform, mobile phone use, detention.. etc

5. Recruit 20 followers for your blog.  If you exchange your blog name with every student in the class you should have 20 followers.  You ask them to follow your blog and you follow theirs
